Chalmers

Brief biography of partner:

The Division of Food and Nutrition Science (FNS) at Chalmers addresses major societal challenges related to sustainable food production, nutrition and health. Among our core competences is the development of technologies for aquatic and agricultural biomass upcycling, often with a biorefinery approach, and with a particular focus on proteins. On the aquatic side, FNS has long experience from valorisation of fish side streams and seaweed using a variety of fractionation and characterization principles

Partner´s Role

Chalmers (FNS) is leader of AP1: Biorefinery and will within this AP be responsible for two of the four selected cases. The first case targets new routes to seaweed biorefining with the aim to efficiently co-recover proteins, polysaccharides and other high value molecules for e.g., food ingredients, biomaterials and biomedical uses. In the second case, innovative refinery technologies will be developed to recover marine collagens from fish side streams for nutricosmetic, nutraceutical and biomedical applications.
